Trained in drawing, painting, and installation, Joan Harrison received her B.F.A from Cal Arts and her M.F.A. from Cal State L.A. She currently makes small drawings that focus on the environment, as well as doing lapidary work and illustrations. She has consistently provided visual arts workshops in Southern California schools since the 1990s. For over 20 years, she also designed pre-concert art activities for the L.A. Philharmonic Symphonies for Youth programs as well as for the Hollywood Bowl summer programs.
Through art workshops at schools, she shares her love of daily learning, the focused exploration of ideas, and skill-building with a variety of tools and materials so that students can express their ideas with original artworks
